Hereford United are a side accustomed to finding themselves in the wrong half of the table in recent seasons. After a spell in League One between 2008-09, which saw them finish 24th, the Bulls have struggled with making a return to League One.
Looking dead-certs for relegation at the mid-way stage of last season, Physio turned Manager Jamie Pitman won plenty of support and backing from the Bulls faithful by transforming the season and dragging United to safety with the pressure well and truly on.
This year is the year where all Hereford fans will be looking to Pitman to really earn his corn. We caught up with Hereford United fan Damian Lea (@Footballmaddamo) about his feelings for the forthcoming season.
What would be a dream season for you?
To finish still in the Football League, and continue the off-field progress that is being made by the new owners.
What would be your worst nightmare?
Don’t even want to go there, it took us 10 years to get back last time.
What do you think of your club’s summer transfer activity?
Good signings, but where’s the wide men Mr Pitman!
Who will be your most important player/s this season?
The goals of Stuart Fleetwood.
Any players you would happily see the back of?
I’ve got to feel sorry for the guy, because the stick he is getting is relentless by Bulls fans, but it has to Sean Canham.
Do you have the best manager for the job?
He knows the club inside out, loyal and willing to change things when they are not working – I think so.
Opposition players that you respect?
Richard Rose did a good job for us at Edgar Street, and think he will do ok at his new Club.
Opposition players that you despise?
I would have said Anthony Elding but he has just gone where he belongs – back to the non league.
Best away fans/ground in your league?
Looking forward to Plymouth away this season, don’t think they will be in this league for long.
Which teams do you really want to beat this season?
I think most Bulls fans would agree with me and say Shrewsbury Town.
Finally, where do you honestly think you will finish?
17th
