Given it’s an International Weekend and there is no action in the Premier League or Championship, the three picks for this week’s football bet come from League One.
After narrowly missing out last week, we are hopeful that we can hit a winner this weekend with all three returning 19/1 with Bet Victor.
Tranmere v Yeovil – Home Win @ 7/10
High flying Tranmere has enjoyed a superb start to their season where they have remained unbeaten after 11 games played, which has seen them open up a four point gap at the top of the table. They have scored 26 times in those games and only conceded six, giving them a vastly superior goal difference of +20 over any other club in the division, the nearest is MK Dons and Stevenage on +7.
Tranmere manager, Ronnie Moore, is working miracles with one of the smallest budgets in the league and looks in line for a second successive Manager of the Month Award, whilst 19 year old striker, Jake Cassidy, after scoring seven goals in September, is in line for League One Player of the Month and with two wins from two games so far in October, there’s no sign of the Birkenhead side slowing down.
Meanwhile, Yeovil who started the season off in good form themselves, returned to winning ways last week, beating Colchester 3-1, following a run of six straight league defeats. They now sit in 13th place in the table but know that they will be up against it this week against a team who have gone 17 games at home without defeat; in fact, the last time they were beaten at Prenton Park came last December in a 2-0 reverse against MK Dons.
Yeovil’s away form can best be described as patchy with only two clean sheets on the road in their last 11 league games. They will surely struggle therefore Rovers goal threats and a home win looks like a solid pick.
Colchester v Stevenage – Away Win @ 17/10
With just one home win in League One this season, Colchester will have their work cut out to win this game against second placed Stevenage, who, like Tranmere are unbeaten after 11 games. Even more worrying for the hosts is the fact that on the road, Gary Smith’s side has won four of their five games and have only conceded three times.
Smith has his team playing at the top of their game currently and they should come away with the three points on Saturday against a struggling Colchester outfit and the odds of 17/10 about the away win looks a fair price.
Bournemouth v Leyton Orient – Away Win @ 33/10
The general buzz going around Bournemouth currently is that former boss, Eddie Howe, is on the verge of leaving Burnley to return to the Cherries and as such, optimism is on the rise. Fans around here have been up in arms in recent weeks after a run of four successive league defeats which has seen the south coast side slide into the relegation zone and the last thing they need now is another defeat against Leyton Orient.
Orient however will come into the game in high spirits after putting together a very useful three match unbeaten run away from home which includes unlikely victories over high flying Swindon Town and fellow promotion candidates Walsall.
This will be a close game but with Bournemouth being so goal shy recently, with just two in their last four, Leyton Orient should have just enough ability up front to get the goal they will need to secure the win
As a Bournemouth fan, it’s a result I hope I am wrong about but they say stick to your specialist field when gambling and AFC Bournemouth is just that! I hate tipping them to get beat but things are that bad at present and without a manager still in place, a turnaround is hard to see on Saturday. Hopefully the new manager can begin to rebuild after the weekend but in the mean time, an away win can boost the odds of this weekend’s football treble.
