Sing When You’re Winning – Baggies, Seagulls and Glovers Taken To Bring Home The Bacon This Weekend

This week we are picking a match from each of England’s top three divisions as we look to end a run of unlucky results on the betting front. Our first choice is at the Hawthorns where we are backing a rejuvenated West Brom side to back up their sensational win at Liverpool with a victory at home to a lacklustre Sunderland outfit. We then venture into the Championship where we are opting for the soaring Seagulls to beat Burnley and continue their march towards the play-offs whilst third and finally it would be rude not to pick the form team of the moment, Yeovil, as they tackle fellow high flyers Doncaster in a crunch League One fixture at the Keepmoat Stadium.

West Brom v Sunderland – Home win @ 21/20

West Brom’s confidence is sky high following their shock 2-0 win away to Liverpool last week. The Baggies headed into the match on the back of a dire run of form and were widely expected to get thumped against a regenerated Liverpool team. However, the visitors upset the odds and thus completed a deserved double over the Reds for the season and now, with both the Merseyside club and Swansea not in league action this weekend, Steve Clarke’s men have an excellent chance to jump up to seventh in the table.

Meanwhile, Sunderland’s revival has waned somewhat of late following three matches without a win, with their last two ending in defeat. Their only away victory in 2013 came at struggling Wigan and they haven’t beaten the Baggies in their last six attempts. The Midlands club have won five of those meetings making them a very attractive bet at 21/20 to pick up all three points on Saturday.

Brighton v Burnley – Home win @ 11/10

On Tuesday, Brighton stormed to a dazzling 2-0 win at league leaders Cardiff City, which ended the Welsh club’s nine game unbeaten run. The confidence boosting victory moved the Seagulls to within just two points of the play-offs, reviving the promotion prospects of Gus Poyet’s side in the process.

The south coast side also beat high-flying Hull earlier this month and will now look to continue their momentum with a win at home to Burnley. The Clarets are without a win in four, which has seen them fall seven points adrift of the top six. Furthermore, Brighton thrashed Burnley 3-1 earlier in the season and head into the match unbeaten in three games, meaning the Gulls look well worth a bet at 11/10 to make home advantage count and continue their ascendency up the table.

Doncaster v Yeovil – Away win @ 85/40

Yeovil are on a simply sizzling run of seven wins on the spin. As a result, they have stormed into the play-offs and are now just a single point off first placed Swindon Town such is the competitive nature at the top of League One. Saturday’s opponents Doncaster Rovers are one of the three teams locked on 58 points at the top of the table but considering their recent form and the fact that they have just had a managerial shake-up means they could be there for the taking.

Rovers have failed to win any of their last four matches, which has included defeats to Walsall and struggling Bury. In contrast, Yeovil’s streak of wins makes them the form team in the league and the momentum is all with the Glovers going into Saturday’s clash, with the visitors a tempting price of 85/40, a price we think is too good to ignore given the circumstances.

Brighton & Hove Albion are the Seagulls not the Gulls. That is Torquay United. We are both fussy about being named correctly.

I will however have a tenner on your bets.
