This season, it feels like we’ve seen the birth of one of world football’s upcoming stars; Kylian Mbappe. The teenage sensation burst onto the scene for AS Monaco, and he is truly spearheading both their Ligue 1 push and Champions League hopes. It seems inevitable that one of Europe’s elite will come calling soon, so where will he end up?
First and foremost, I’d just like to give a huge amount of praise to Monaco boss, Leonardo Jardim. This is a manager who hasn’t been afraid to give youth a go. In fact, Mbappe is just one of a whole squad made up of outstandingly gifted young individuals. The sad thing is that eventually, this squad will be broken up by the lure of money.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Where will Kylian Mbappe end up when an irresistible offer comes in for the 18-year-old starlet. Here is a list of potential destinations:
The home of nurturing young, French talent is The Emirates Stadium, under the guidance of Arsene Wenger. We’ve seen some world class Frenchman in North London down the years, including the likes of Thierry Henry; whom Mbappe has been compared to on numerous occasions.
At Arsenal, the striker would get game-time aplenty as there is no real competition for him there. Surely he has what it takes to beat out Olivier Giroud? The downside of a move to The Gunners is the likelihood of no Champions League football next season.
Probably the best club side on the planet right now. Real Madrid could be closing in on yet another La Liga title, as well as another Champions League crown. In terms of trophies and glory, there would be no better place for Mbappe than the Santiago Bernabeu.
Game-time wouldn’t come as easy for him here, though. Cristiano Ronaldo has been playing as the central striker at times this season and we all know just how good of a player he is. On top of that, Karim Benzema will provide even more competition.
Well, Manchester United certainly wouldn’t mind paying whatever it takes to land Mbappe. The Theatre of Dreams would be an excellent home for the 18-year-old, particularly as he’ll have the likes of fellow Frenchman Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial to help ease him in.
The Red Devils will need to replace the goals of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and although the Swede and Mbappe are two completely different players, he’d be an excellent fit for United’s counter-attacking style of play.
In terms of a tailor-made fit for Mbappe, I honestly don’t think it gets any better than Manchester City. Pep Guardiola is the absolute master when it comes to nurturing young talents; just ask Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane. Adding Mbappe to that trio, along with Gabriel Jesus would strike fear into the rest of the Premier League.
Like their cross-city rivals, the blues will have no problem when it comes to stumping up whatever transfer fee AS Monaco desire. The issue will come with just where he would fit into the team as both Sergio Aguero and the aforementioned Gabriel Jesus play in his preferred position.
The perennial German trophy-winners would be another good home for Mbappe. Trophies are almost a given every year, as well as a push at European glory too… Carlo Ancelotti is an absolute mastermind, and the prospect of linking up with the astute Italian is quite tempting in itself.
Competition-wise, we all know just how prolific of a goalscorer Robert Lewandowski is. Thomas Muller can also play as the main striker for the Bavarian side. However, if any club is looking at splashing huge money on Mbappe, he will get chances to play wherever he ends up.
