10 amazing stats from Matchday 25 of the Premier League

Tuesday 14th February 2017
Southampton's 4-0 thumping of Sunderland on the road was definitely the high point of a fairly mute weekend in terms of goals; which also saw the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal both return to winning ways.

On the flip side, it turned out to be another disappointing outing for Leicester City, Crystal Palace and the Black Cats who further plunged into relegation waters.

With that in mind, we take you through the biggest stats from last weekend's league actions with the help of Opta.

1 - Pep's Monday vibes

Pep Guardiola boasts an unbelievable record of never losing a game on Monday, and that streak continued against Bournemouth.

2 - Sterling's Cherries joy

Some players derive special pleasure scoring against a particular team; one of which is Raheem Sterling. The Englishman has found a way of hitting the target each time he has faced Bournemouth.

3 - Penalty king Toure

The Premier League has had so many great penalty takers in history but none can match the prowess of Yaya Toure.

4 - Goal sick Boro

Middlesbrough (19) has managed the fewest goals in the Premier League this season; in fact, games involving Aitor Karanka's side has produced the fewest strikes.

5 - Stuttering Foxes

Leicester City's abysmal title defence continued with their 14th defeat of the season at Swansea. The Foxes have now failed to score in six successive games - the worst by a reigning champion.

6 - Superb Sanchez

Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez is undoubtedly having his best season yet in the English top flight. The Chilean notched twice at the weekend to take his tally to 17 thereby topping the goalscoring charts.

7 - Solid Burnley

Burnley is one of few clubs to have taken away points from Chelsea this season. Their stalemate with the Blues meant they've now gone six games unbeaten at home for the first time in over 40 years.

8 - Revived Pedro

Antonio Conte has drastically transformed many Chelsea players this term - with Pedro obviously one of them. The Spaniard with nine goals has already surpassed his tally for last season.

9 - Rampant Mane

Sadio Mane grabbed two goals in quick succession to help Liverpool end their winless streak. What this means is that the Senegalese player has now contributed more goals than any other Reds player.

10 - Extraordinary Man Utd

Manchester United's 2-0 win over Watford ensured Jose Mourinho's lads maintained their 16-game unbeaten run, but more importantly, it means the Red Devils became the first team to gain 2000 league points.
