UEFA Champions League Matchday 3: The must-watch games

Tuesday 17th October 2017
There are always mouthwatering UEFA Champions League clashes to look forward to. We've picked out 3 must-watch games for matchday 3.

Real Madrid vs Tottenham Hotspur - Tuesday 7:45 pm BST

Tottenham Hotspur faces their biggest challenge this season thus far when they travel to the Santiago Bernabeu, home of the current UEFA Champions League holders.

After a poor start to the season, Real Madrid is now up to speed. The Los Blancos have won 4 out of their last 4 fixtures, including a 3-1 win away at Borussia Dortmund. They now await Tottenham Hotspur, a young team ready to prove themselves. Cristiano Ronaldo has been continuing his world-class form in Europe, too; scoring 4 goals in 2 games.
Spurs are looking for any opportunities to get away from home. Now, they travel to a special stadium, the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. Pochettino's men also have enjoyed a 100% start to their UEFA Champions League campaign and win against Real Madrid would do wonders for the North-Londoners. Harry Kane, is once again leading the scoring charts (5 goals).

Manchester City vs Napoli - Tuesday 7:45 pm BST

Arguably, the most mouth-watering clash this Champions League matchday is Manchester City vs Napoli. Both clubs are leading their respective domestic leagues and scoring goals for fun.

Pep Guardiola has stepped up. Manchester City look like a completely upgraded team this season. They are rampant on the attack, whilst keeping things solid at the back. The Blues are unbeaten this season, looking like the team to beat. Sergio Aguero could also be welcomed back, too.
However, Man City face an in-form Napoli side. Maurizio Sarri's men boast a 100% record in Serie A, although they've already lost once in the Champions League. A recent win against Roma has kept the spirits high. Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne are in scintillating form; they'll have to produce something magical to break this resolute City defence.

The battle of the sky-blues promises a lot of goals.

Chelsea vs Roma - Wednesday 7:45 pm BST

Roma travels to the English capital to face Chelsea, in a fixture that has the makings of an epic clash.

Chelsea suffered a loss to bottom side Crystal Palace in the Premier League over the weekend. Undoubtedly, Antonio Conte's side will surely be looking to bounce back quickly. For a side that outplayed Atletico Madrid, you'd expect an improved performance in Europe, but against quality opposition like Roma, it won't be easy. The Blues, however, have some reason to believe that they can continue their impressive Champions League start; they'll be boosted by the returning Alvaro Morata.
Roma currently sits second in Group C, with a win against Qarabag and a draw against Atletico Madrid in the books. Eusebio Di Francesco's side has injury problems of their own. After a defeat to Napoli on Saturday, Roma too will look to regain form. The 'Giallorossi' will have to put in a stunning performance in London in order to have a chance of qualifying from this tough group.
