Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater has been at the club for 14 months, but it looks like his time at Stamford Bridge may be coming to an end.

The 28-year-old failed to make a competitive appearance under new boss Mauricio Sarri, with the Italian manager insisting that Drinkwater doesn’t fit into his preferred system.

"I think the situation is that Drinkwater for me is not suitable for a midfield with two other midfielders," Sarri said. "I told him two months ago what I think.”

Sarri also revealed that both Drinkwater and Victor Moses will ‘have to improve’ if they are to break back into the Chelsea team.

“I don't know [if they have a future at Chelsea]. They have to improve but their characteristics are a little bit different."

With the January transfer window quickly approaching, Drinkwater should be looking to cut his ties with the London team if he wants to get his career back on track.

A number of top-flight clubs were linked to the former Leicester player over the last few months. If he does get the much-needed move, where could the Mancunian end up? Here’s a round-up of five possible Premier League destinations:
