A Scottish Shambles

Friday 26th August 2011
Scottish football was plunged into the doldrums last night after pitiful displays by our teams. The last time Scotland had to endure no European football beyond August was 1951. Even an Irish team Shamrock Rovers progressed further than the Scots, and out of all the British Clubs who took part in Europe this week it was the Scots who fell.

Where can we possibly go from here? Scottish football has been in the decline for years only Rangers and Celtic were immune to it as the had sufficient funding to compete in Europe. Not anymore Celtic have a feeble away record beaten by Artmedia Brataslava, Sion and Utrecht etc. Whilst Rangers have only won once in 25 games in Europe- and even that was only a 1-0 win at home to Bursaspor.

Now that the overall quality has reached rock bottom is it time to accept Scotland has been punching well over its weight for years and that we are not on the level as Holland, France, Turkey and Portugal and that we are on the same level as nations who are around us in the FIFA Rankings.
