A Team Of Football Fans Aim To Visit All 92 League Clubs And Wembley Stadium In Just 92 Hours

Monday 7th October 2013
A team of football fans are embarking on a task that many of us would like to achieve by visiting all 92 League clubs in the country but rather than doing it over the course of a season they have set themselves the task of doing it in just 92 hours and are also adding Wembley Stadium onto the list as well to complete their 92 Plus 1 challenge.

The four man squad made up of Simon Cox, Darren Young, Mark Burns and Mike Peters aim to visit all of the 92 Premier League and Football League grounds sandwiched between the two England World Cup qualifiers. They are scheduled to leave Wembley straight after the final whistle against Montenegro on Friday 11th October and will then travel around 2,600 miles by car before the kick off for the next game against Poland on Tuesday 15th October.

As part of the journey they will even make their way to the Ricoh Arena in Coventry although the Midlands club is currently playing their football at Northampton's Sixfields Stadium as part of a ground share scheme. One of the organisers Simon Cox said “When we launched the 92 Plus 1 challenge in June we said we would be visiting 92 football clubs, not 91 plus a ground share!”

Their quest is backed by various football associations along with the RAF, Army and Navy as the team doing the challenge will be raising money for the Help for Heroes charity along the way, with a target set of £10,000.

Along their journey they will be joined on their challenge by various footballers including Micky Hazard (former UEFA Cup and FA Cup Winner), Paul Gibbs (former Colchester, Brentford, Plymouth and Torquay defender), Wayne Fereday (former QPR, West Brom and Newcastle winger), Trevor Benjamin (former Jamaican International) and Daryl Sutch (300 appearances for Norwich City) all joining the team on various parts of the challenge.

You can find out more about the quest by visiting their website http://www.92plus1.co.uk/ or you can follow them on Twitter @92plus1 or you can even give some vocal support by going to a stadium near you when they arrive, a full list of estimated times is published on their website.
