All eyes on Arsenal...

Friday 12th August 2011
As we all know the hugely anticipated Premier League season kicks off and all eyes will be on Arsenal when they visit Newcastle on Saturday. Nasri and Fabregas look destined to depart to Manchester City and Barcelona.

However is it all doom and gloom? There is an argument that Wenger has to give up on his philosphy of moulding young players into a team of flourishing stars that all peak at the same time and win trophies. Whilst it is much admired by myself and many others it has failed.

Arsenal have been overtaken by big spending clubs Manchester City and Chelsea and the ever present fact that his dream philosphy has failed to produce silverware for 6 years must be eating away in the back of his head. It's certainly a fact that Nasri and Fabregas could not tolereate anymore- and can any Arsenal fan blame them for wanting to win trophies, they're certainly good enough as Cesc has already shown when playing for his country.

It is time for Wenger to concede the fact that his much admired style and transfer policy has failed and his "Dream Team" could never reach the heights of his immaculate invincibles but produced mere glimmers of their brilliance.

In the end the bottom line is Wenger must spend and spend big to compete with the teams around him. Everyone knows it and so does Wenger and it is time for him to let his head rule his heart. If he can't do that then he should walk away.
