Awaiting Stoke City vs Liverpool

Saturday 10th September 2011
Arguably the most eagerly anticipated match this weekend in the Premier League is the game between Stoke City and Liverpool.

Stoke City turned the heads of football fans by spending big during the latest transfer window. The signings of Crouch and Jerome should create competition for places in the forward line and Palacios will give them some more bulk in the centre of the field.

The signings are a signal of intent from a side eager to build on its European qualification. Pulis has steadily built a side that can compete with the best, proving those wrong who say that all they play is the long ball game. Etherington and Pennant offer them width and now with Crouch and Jerome to link up with their wing play could become even more effective.

Liverpool also turned heads with their singing of Bellamy. Bellamy could be a real asset to the club, giving them a fight and aggression in attack that could complement the height of Carroll or the potent finishing of Suarez. Bellamy is versatile too and could easily provide Liverpool with width, instead of Kuyt for example. As a free transfer Bellamy could become the singing of the season. Time will tell if Dalglish can get the best out of his temperament.

It should be a great game between two sides that are aiming for better things come the end of the season. The contest should show which sides' signings have settled better.
