Why Bayern Munich must sign Leroy Sane

Bayern Munich wisely planned ahead in view of Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery both bidding farewell. The club's management settled on Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry. Still, the Bavarians require another winger this summer in order to fully fill their voids.
This past season, Coman proved a good fit on Bayern's left wing. The 23-year-old Frenchman scored 10 goals in 30 competitive games. His ability to cut in from the flank while searching for holes in the opposition's defense complemented Gnabry's presence on the other side. The 23-year-old German showed brilliance himself to bag 13 goals in 42 matches. As a pair, they cause havoc.
Of course, one might wonder why the Bavarians need to sign a winger since there's no guaranteed starting spot.
Fitness is the most important asset a footballer has. Without it, a player's talent is rendered null. Gnabry and Coman are both prone to injuries. Seven separate issues caused them to miss a combined 26 games this past campaign. Continuing with only these two is extremely risky.
Leroy Sane's fitness record, meanwhile, is close to perfect. The Manchester City winger hasn't missed a game through injury for 17 months. That's despite the Premier League's high tempo and intensity.
Not just that, Sane is hugely talented. His lightning pace makes him a real threat, particularly from the left flank. The 23-year-old combines polished dribbling with accurate finishing. His creativity also means he can be a provider. In 2017/18, the German's 15 league assists finished second only to teammate Kevin De Bruyne. He pulled another 10 the following season. Imagine the numbers him supplying Bayern frontman Robert Lewandowski.
Sane wouldn't have a problem adjusting to the Bundesliga. He spent two years there representing Schalke, a club which held him in high regard. Joining the division's top team will raise his status even further.

One might think Sane has no reason to leave Man City. Admittedly, he plays for the reigning English champions, a side which can compete on all fronts next season. However, a player of his talent deserves more than what City is offering him.
Sane started only 21 league matches this past campaign, brought on in a game's second half ten times. His ability didn't cease when called on. He would have produced more than his 10 goals and assists apiece if only Pep Guardiola had afforded him more time.
In terms of silverware, Sane has a better chance at Bayern. City face a tough battle to protect their crown next season. Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool won't give them any breathing space. Under Niko Kovac's tutorship, the Bavarians secured the domestic double in May. Their grip on Germany will be hard to dislodge.
Sane's arrival will put much-needed pressure on both Coman and Gnabry. Kovac may want to use him on the right wing, from which he can cut inside on to his dangerous left foot. Guardiola has tried this, though, and it didn't yield as expected.
To secure a place in Bayern's starting lineup, Sane's best bet is to capitalize on Coman's injuries to win his favored position. Then, it will prove easier to flourish in his birthland than it is in his current home.
It's obvious both parties have a lot to gain should this deal come through. Sane will earn a more important role compared to what he has at Man City. The Bavarians' attacking depth will improve, giving Kovac an option to rotate his squad.
Whatever City ask, be it £100 million or more, Bayern must sign Sane this summer.
