Which Champions League teams entertained us the most this season?

Wednesday 16th May 2018

Every season, the Champions League has blessed football fans around the world with its thrills and spills. The competition’s dramas and surprises have been leaving fans with fond memories. This season's edition didn't disappoint even with the final between Real Madrid and Liverpool still to take place.

In fact, this edition has been full of jaw-dropping moments as most of the favourites have been sent packing. However, here are three teams who have lit the Champions League.

AS Roma

Take a glimpse back to the beginning of this campaign, Roma wasn't on the radar of most fans. Being drawn in the same group with Atletico Madrid and Chelsea seemed like qualification was a mission impossible for the Romans. Perhaps, they could finish in third place and settle for the Europa League. However, they surprised us. The Giallorossi came out as bosses of their group. They displaced Chelsea to the second position and sent Atletico off to the Europa League. At the Round of 16, they were lucky to face Shakhtar Donetsk, though. Shakhtar proved a little bit tough but the Romans still found their way through to the quarter-finals.

Here, Roma performed a miracle against Barcelona. On seeing the fixture, many would have given Barcelona the nod without a second thought. The Romans looked inferior to their opposition. Most especially after the 4-1 loss at the Camp Nou, it seems the end has finally come upon the Gialllorossi.

However, Roma performed nothing short of a miracle at the Stadio Olimpico. Barcelona was totally outplayed and shocked. Roma scored three unanswered goals from Barca to advance to the semi-finals.

That wasn't the end, they still staged another drama against Liverpool at the semi-finals. Liverpool won 5-2 at Anfield, however. Roma won 4-2 in Rome to create the highest goal-scoring semi-finals in history. Though the Romans were knocked out, they still preserved their pride and fell with respect.

Liverpool

Roma blessed us with magic and surprises, however. Liverpool decided to shower goals on us. The Reds has stormed the Champions League with their lethal attacking strength. No opponent left unscathed from their relentless attacking firepower.

They scored a vast pool of goals at the group stages and the Round of 16. Many said they would not be able to do that against big sides of Europe but Jurgen Klopp’s men gave the best answer against Manchester City and AS Roma.

Liverpool are not ones to write off easily. The most deadly thing we've witnessed so far is when the Reds are on the counter-attack. They've scored a staggering 40 goals this season in Europe.

One of the things that makes football interesting is goals. Liverpool blessed us with more than our fair share. Hauls of goals make football interesting, Liverpool had excited us all.

Real Madrid

While other European big teams flex their might against the small teams, Real Madrid have been totally different. They've always been flexing their power against juggernauts.

Ties like Real Madrid against Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich are one of the most entertaining duels this season. Real have never been called boring as expectations are usually high. They thrashed PSG, survived a Juventus’ scare and overcame Bayern Munich to make it to the final for the third time running. Los Blancos have been through thick and thin in the Champions League. Since their strength has been tested all along and they always manage to survive, surely they must be considered as the strongest, most entertaining team of the competition.

They've been entertaining us since with their daunting tasks and how they do overcome marvels. The Merengues will face Liverpool in Kyiv come May 26 and that will be even more interesting.

Considering the attacking arsenals at their disposal, Kyiv will be set ablaze as our two most entertaining teams face off for glory. It will be hotly contested, I can't wait.
