English-based players Leonid Slutsky could sign for Vitesse Arnhem

Friday 13th April 2018

Leonid Slutsky will take charge of Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem next season. He will officially become their manager over the summer and this news has come as no surprise due to the fact that Vitesse are used as a feeder club to English giants Chelsea. Slutsky is a close friend of the Blues' owner, Roman Abramovich, and this link has undoubtedly helped him get the job.

He has most recently been manager of Championship side Hull City but his time in East Yorkshire was short-lived after being sacked following an immensely poor start to the season. The Russian boss has also previously managed his country and CSKA Moscow. He now has a new project on his hands in Holland, so here are five players he could bring to Vitesse in the summer...

Michael Hector, Chelsea

Vitesse are known to take players from Chelsea on loan and have done with Fankaty Dabo, Mason Mount and Matt Miazga this season. There is no doubt that Leonid Slutsky will use the links with the Blues in the summer again. Michael Hector is one who he could bring to Holland. The 25-year-old centre-back is unlikely to have a long-term future at Chelsea and was signed by Slutsky on loan for Hull City last summer. Hector has played 34 games for the Tigers in this campaign and he could come in and do a solid job for Vitesse.

Ahmed Musa, Leicester City

Although a deal for Musa could be pricey, he is another player who Slutsky could be keeping tabs on. He knows the Nigerian striker well from their time at CSKA Moscow together, the 25-year-old has now returned to the Russian giants on loan until the end of the season. Musa joined Leicester City in 2016 for £16.6 million but fell down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium. Slutsky tried to sign him on loan for Hull last summer and could try and lure him to Vitesse over the next couple of months.

Ola Aina, Chelsea

The promising defender is on the books at Chelsea but was signed on loan for Hull City by Leonid Slutsky and he has been with the Championship side all season. He is due to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the campaign. At just 21-years-old, Chelsea will probably be keen on loaning him out again next season. Therefore, Vitesse may try and use their links with the Blues and bring him in over the summer. He has played 40 games for Hull City and is getting crucial first-team minutes under his belt.

Kenneth Omeruo, Chelsea

The 24-year-old centre-back is the final Chelsea player who we will mention. He has spent this season on loan in Turkey at Kasimpasa, having spent previous campaigns at Dutch side ADO Dan Haag and Middlesbrough. The Nigerian is another player who Slutsky could potentially bring to Vitesse. He fits the bill nicely as he has played in the Eredivisie before and it is likely that Chelsea will opt to loan him out once again next season to comply with their loan policy.

Seb Larsson, Hull City

The Sweden international is out of contract in the summer and is likely to leave Hull City for free. Slutsky signed him for the Tigers in August and will know all about his contract situation. He is certainly an option for the Vitesse gaffer to explore. Larsson, formerly of Birmingham City, Arsenal and Sunderland, will be looking to put himself in the shop window when he is at the World Cup in Russia in June with Sweden.
