FA Cup Roundup: Burnley and Crystal Palace advance as Lincoln provide shock

Wednesday 18th January 2017
On Tuesday night the FA Cup third round replays were all settled as 12 teams battled to advance. There's still plenty of action to come in this year's competition, but these replays provided some fantastic performances.

AFC Wimbledon 1-3 Sutton United

It was a night to remember for Sutton United fans as their side won away at AFC Wimbledon. Dons striker Tom Elliot opened the scoring on the 15-minute mark but after Paul Robinson was sent off in the first half, Sutton sensed an upset. Roarie Deacon's 75th-minute strike set up a frantic last 15 minutes. Goalscorer Deacon turned provider as Maxime Biamou made it 2-1 to Sutton in the 90th minute then to top it all off Dan Fitchett made it 3-1 in extra-time to send Sutton through to home tie against Leeds United in the fourth round.

Barnsley 1-2 Blackpool (AET)

Blackpool took a first half lead at Oakwell through Kevin Mellor but their gameplan suddenly had to change after half-time as Barnsley came back to equalise after just four minutes. The game then turned into a drab affair and entered extra-time. But three minutes before a penalty shoot-out Bright Samuel popped up with one of Blackpool's only attempts on goal in extra-time to send the tangerines through.

Burnley 2-0 Sunderland

In this all-Premier League tie, it was Burnley who got yet another win at Turf Moor in a fantastic home campaign. Goals from Sam Vokes and Andre Gray were enough to see off Sunderland who looked abject at best failing to really test the Burnley goalkeeper. Survival in the Premier League is now the top priority for David Moyes and the Black Cats.

Fleetwood Town 0-1 Bristol City

After eight games without a win, Lee Johnson was a relieved man as he witnessed his Bristol City side earn a 1-0 win away at in-form Fleetwood Town. The only goal of the game came in the first-half through Bristol City's Jamie Patterson.

Crystal Palace 2-1 Bolton Wanderers

Sam Allardyce finally has his first win as Crystal Palace manager but his side had to win the hard way coming from a goal down. Bolton took the lead early in the first-half through James Henry and looked comfortable against the struggling Eagles who looked rather toothless in attack. However, two goals from Christian Benteke turned the game around and Crystal Palace will welcome Manchester City to Selhurst Park in the fourth round. Allardyce will no doubt be looking for a reaction in their next Premier League game.

Lincoln City 1-0 Ipswich Town

An incredible result for Lincoln City as they beat Championship side Ipswich Town at Sincil Bank. There were no goals until the 90th minute when Nathan Arnold scored a dramatic late winner rounding goalkeeper Dean Gherkin and putting the ball into the net. Ipswich offered very little going forward and were punished by Lincoln who, on an emotional night paying respects to club legend Graham Taylor, fully deserved their victory. Another Championship side will visit Lincoln in the fourth round as Brighton make the trip up to Sincil Bank.
