Five players to watch out for during Euro 2016

Thursday 19th May 2016
The European Championships begin on June 10th and the provisional squads have started to be named by the 24 competing nations. England boss Roy Hodgson this week named an initial 26-man party, with the surprise inclusion teenage Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford, who he has admitted is a contender to travel to France.

We take a look at some other talents to keep your eye out for this summer.

Breel Embolo - Switzerland

Talented teenager Embolo has been linked with a host of Europe's top clubs after impressing with Swiss champions Basel. The Cameroon-born attacker, capable of playing across the forward line, has scored 10 goals in 26 appearances this season in the Swiss Super League, and scored his first goal for the senior national team in October last year. Tottenham are rumored to be interested in taking the quick and athletic 19-year-old to London this summer, an impressive summer in France just may increase his significant value.

Dele Alli - England

Plying his trade in the third tier of English football just 12 months ago, Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past year. A £5m signing from MK Dons, Alli has enjoyed a breakthrough debut season in the Premier League, scoring 10 goals and providing 9 assists to be crowned PFA Young Player of The Year. After earning international recognition, Alli capped his full debut with a stunning striker against France and seems a certain starter in midfield for England this summer.

Saul Niguez - Spain

In a squad packed with talent, Spain coach Vincente Del Bosque has chosen to leave out established stars Juan Mata and Diego Costa in favor of some promising young talent. Leading the next generation is Atletico Madrid's Saul Niguez. The young midfielder has been instrumental in Diego Simeone's sides charge to the Champions League final, his stunning solo strike against Bayern Munich in the semi-finals showcasing his vast potential. Whether 'Saul' can force his way into a supremely talented Spanish midfield remains to be seen, but he has the potential to excel if given the opportunity.

Piotr Zielinkski - Poland

Heavily fancied to arrive at Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp's first summer, Piotr Zielinski is set to represent Poland at this summer's championships. Capable of playing a variety of midfield roles, the 21-year-old's notable work rate and dribbling abilities look ideally suited to Klopp's pressing game. Having impressed for Empoli on loan from Udinese in Serie A, Liverpool will hope to have tied up a deal for the youngster before he can impress other suitors when adding to his 13 caps this summer.

Andriy Yarmolenko - Ukraine

Not a youngster, but a player long since linked with a move to English football, Ukraine talisman Yarmolenko has a chance to showcase his talent on a global stage this summer. The 26-year-old winger has an impressive record of 23 goals in 57 international caps and has been linked recently with transfers to Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton. Alongside Sevilla's Yevhen Konoplyanka, much of Ukraine's hopes this summer will rest on Yarmolenko, whether he can deliver remains to be seen.
