Four moments Liverpool can put behind them with a Premier League title

Can Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side right the wrongs of so many Premier League seasons?

Liverpool are a football club with a rich history but also one that has gone too long without tasting success in the Premier League.

The Anfield club were last victorious in England’s top division in 1990, before the advent of the Premier League, a time which most people today seem to forget existed. Since the competition was rebranded, the Reds have won the FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Cup and the Champions League, everything there is to win, save for the Premier League.

Not that Liverpool haven’t gone close in the last three decades. There have been several seasons in which the Merseyside outfit came within reach of that elusive 19th title, only to fall short. The likes of Graeme Souness, Roy Evans and Gerard Houllier tried and failed. Rafa Benitez and Brendan Rodgers came closer, but they too fell short.

Now the responsibility lies with Jurgen Klopp. Up against a Manchester City squad which is arguably the best in the modern era, the German’s task is formidable. Yet, the Reds are still very much in contention. The painful memories of those close encounters with the Premier League trophy continue to haunt supporters. They will continue to do so until a Liverpool captain holds it aloft.

If they can manage it this term, here are four recurring nightmares they can finally put to bed.

Daniel is the owner of The Kopite and a devoted Liverpool fan or, as some might say, an enemy of the people.

He also takes a keen interest in the Bundesliga, Serie A and MLS while sporting an unhealthy obsession with world-class midfield generals. The day that Andrea Pirlo retired was the worst of Daniel's life, and his greatest wish is that he may one day grow a beard long enough to pay proper tribute to the Italian playmaker.

Feel free to send him a picture of your dog.
