Georges-Kevin N'Koudou on loan with Burnley until season's end

Friday 12th January 2018

Burnley FC have completed the loan signing of Tottenham French winger, Georges-Kevin N'koudou until the end of the season. But who is he and what can Sean Dyche expect from him?

Spurs bought the young winger back in 2016 for a fee of around £11 million from Marseille. Since joining Tottenham he has only made nine league appearances with 23 in all competitions. The 22-year-old born in Versaille scored his first goal at Spurs this season against APOEL back in December during a Champions League group match. N'koudou felt he needed a move as he was being used more as a substitute than a first-team regular.

The attacking-minded Frenchman predominantly plays as a left-winger but can also be altered as a right-winger if needed. He is known to possess great pace which Burnley could do with right now. Not much is actually known about the player in England due to his lack of game time but Spurs fans will know about him from playing within their side over the past two years.

Before joining Tottenham, N'koudou was a regular in the Marseille side playing 28 league games and scoring five times. During that 2015-16 season, he earned 30th place in UEFA's Best Player in Europe poll. This obviously gained the attention from Tottenham eventually capturing his signature.

But before Marseille, N'koudou made his professional debut for FC Nantes. From 2013-15 he made 34 league appearances scoring twice. Coming through Nantes' academy he gained much experience right away after signing his professional contract. Now he is loaned out from Spurs to Burnley and ready to take on a new challenge.

N'koudou has appeared for France at youth levels from Under 17's right up to the Under 21's. In those youth levels, he has made 12 appearances and scored once for the Under 20's and once with the Under 21's. Although no call-ups have been made into the main national squad there is plenty of time to make amends. At just 22 years of age, he has loads of time still to develop as a player.

Sean Dyche will more or less make him a first-team regular which is what he wants right now. Two seasons spent at Tottenham mainly on the bench isn't what he had in mind. So to make the loan deal happen he should be expecting to be a first-team main player. One player who may be competing for his spot includes Johann Berg Gudmundsson. There are two other players. One being Scott Arfield who is a slight doubt for Burnley's next fixture while Robbie Brady is out with a knee injury. The Irish international has no return date set yet.

N'koudou's position will be down to which flank Sean Dyche will use him. As stated before he can play both wings but would prefer to be set on the left-hand side of the field. As there are injury concerns to other players he could get his wish and start straight away in Burnley's next fixture at Crystal Palace this Saturday afternoon.

For the young French winger, it could be the perfect chance to get as much game time as he has been wanting. At a club like Burnley, he will get some much-needed experience also.

For my sins, I'm a season ticket holder at Stoke City, I have been proud to watch them for over 20 years. I follow most of the UK leagues and the major European ones too, and I've been told that I talk way too much about football.
