Ipswich secure Stockdale loan

Wednesday 27th July 2011
Ipswich Town and Fulham have just completed a great piece of business all round after the Championship side secured a season loan for goalkeeper David Stockdale.

Stockdale, who signed for Fulham for £600,000 in 2008, covered for Mark Schwarzer last season and is believed to be the next Fulham number one once the Aussie retires. For Ipswich this is a great piece of business as they can play a confident up and coming goalkeeper who has had experience at this level.

It is good business for Fulham too who can recall the goalkeeper at any time should something happen to their current number one. Were Fulham to sell or loan to a Premier League club then they could not recall the keeper who covered for Schwarzer on seven occasions last season.

If Stockdale has a good season then there's no reason why he can't build upon the England call up he received for the Euro qualifier against Switzerland last year.
