Manchester City interested in signing Dani Alves from Juventus

Monday 19th June 2017
It is speculated that Manchester City is interested in Brazilian full-back Dani Alves. The 34-year-old has had quite an illustrious career so far and interest from a Premier League side could open up his options. With Man City sniffing around could Juventus let him go?

Dani Alves is well known for his feisty style of play. With being a full back he also likes to commit to an attacking style as well. He is most notorious for his time at Barcelona. Being part of a squad that was dominant for many years it was a successful period for the right back.

Not only did he play many times for Barcelona but also Sevilla too. He managed to play 175 league games for Sevilla scoring 11 times and appearing in 247 league games for Barcelona scoring 14 times. Juventus managed to snap Alves up on a free transfer after Barcelona decided to let him go in 2016. Alves would go on to make 19 league appearances scoring twice, winning the Coppa Italia and Serie A. His 9th league title in Europe.
I think it's fair to say he has a few medals with the standard of a career that he has had. Not only has Dani Alves been successful for clubs but for his country as well. He has managed to make the centurion mark for appearances and has scored seven times for his home country. His latest coming against Paraguay in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

So why are Manchester City interested in signing a 34-year-old right back? Maybe because they know his quality and recognise that he still has got what they need. With the departures of Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna the slots need to be filled. If they are keen to buy the Brazilian I wouldn't see why it would be a bad purchase. I think Man City fans would welcome a player of his calibur. Even if it means just for a season or two.

The 6-time FIFPRO World XI player has many clubs keeping a close eye on him. Manchester City are interested but haven't put in an offer as of yet. If Man City do make an offer it could be a very interesting signing. Alves could be interested as he has yet to play in the Premier League and is aware that it is one of the best leagues in the world. He could also be content about his season in Juventus giving him his decision to stay or leave Juventus this summer.
Another reason that could entice Alves from Juventus is that Pep Guardiola is managing Man City. If he was to sign, there would be that link from their Barcelona days and as we've seen with Guardiola, he has his favourites.

With this news being just interest from one club for a player it is just a matter of time if we do see any offers unfold. Many more players will be linked with moves throughout the summer. Do you think Dani Alves would be a good move to Manchester City or not?

For my sins, I'm a season ticket holder at Stoke City, I have been proud to watch them for over 20 years. I follow most of the UK leagues and the major European ones too, and I've been told that I talk way too much about football.
