Manchester City's Squad Review: Who stays or goes in attack?

Thursday 14th June 2018

Manchester City’s forward lineup is the envy of the entire Premier League, if not the continent. Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling plundered 84 goals in all competitions between them this season. The quartet contributed to 62 of 106 goals Manchester City scored in the Premier League.

Even with such a prolific attacking lineup, Pep Guardiola isn’t satisfied. He went asked Santa for Riyad Mahrez for Christmas. Leicester City only offered lumps of coal. He then tried to sign Alexis Sanchez in January. The move was scuppered by Manchester United. Now, in the summer transfer, they are back to the drawing board with Mahrez.

Before we delve into a review of their forwards, let’s state one blatant truth. None from the existing group is leaving the club. Not a one. keeping that in mind, let’s conclude our Manchester City Squad Review series.

[Apologies, by the way, for the long interlude between this chapter and the previous three. Technical issues temporarily sidelined me. You can review the previous chapters here, here, and here]
