Manchester United 3-0 Bolton Wanderers (Bolton Fan's Perspective)

Bolton Wanderers' poor form in the first half of the season continued into the second half of the campaign as they suffered a one-sided 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The hosts dominated the match from the first minute to the last, with Bolton once again failing to pose any sort of threat - not an uncommon situation against the league's big clubs, which is a huge concern with home matches against Liverpool and Arsenal next up in the league for Wanderers.

United squandered several first half chances, including Wayne Rooney's penalty kick being brilliantly saved by impressive stand-in Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan. But United did eventually make the inevitable breakthrough moments before half-time, through an extremely popular source. David Wheater blocked Nani's cross which only rebounded to Wayne Rooney, who did well to square the ball to Scholes lurking on the back post to convert the opener and complete a fine week for 'returning heroes' with his first goal since August 2010.

Bolton managed to get a sniff of getting back into the game, but realistically never put United under any real stress. And United wrapped the game up when Rooney ran through the middle of the pitch and played in Danny Welbeck to poke home the second goal.

The rout was complete 7 minutes from time, when midfielder Michael Carrick received the ball from Ryan Giggs' pass, advanced on goal and steered the ball home from 20 yards.

Bolton remain stranded in the relegation zone, having seen Blackburn pick up another win and Wolves pick up a point away to Tottenham, and look to be struggling to save their Premier League status. United, however, drew level on points with leaders Manchester City ahead of the Blues' visit to bottom of the league Wigan Athletic on Monday night.
