Manchester United's Squad Review: Who stays or goes in attack?

Sunday 27th May 2018

Manchester United has struggled to form a potent attacking combination since Robin van Persie's departure. In those five years, Angel Di Maria, Radamel Falcao, Memphis Depay, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku have been brought in to spring life into the side.

This season, the Red Devils finished with their highest point and goal tally since Alex Ferguson’s final title-winning season. While Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s debut added bite to the attack, a shock knee injury cut short his stay at Old Trafford. Enter Romelu Lukaku.

In the years since that 2012-13 title, United failed to form an attack that could strike fear in the heart of the opponents and take fans to the edge of their seats. Under Mourinho, they have come a long way. It’s not that United is great to watch now, but there have been glimpses of what the fans can anticipate.
