This season, the Red Devils finished with their highest point and goal tally since Alex Ferguson’s final title-winning season. While Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s debut added bite to the attack, a shock knee injury cut short his stay at Old Trafford. Enter Romelu Lukaku.
In the years since that 2012-13 title, United failed to form an attack that could strike fear in the heart of the opponents and take fans to the edge of their seats. Under Mourinho, they have come a long way. It’s not that United is great to watch now, but there have been glimpses of what the fans can anticipate.
