Four Salomon Rondon alternatives for Newcastle United
Newcastle United is in desperate need for some offensive bite. The Toon Army lost its final tooth following Alexandar Mitrovic’s switch to Fulham. Salomon Rondon seemed on his way before talks with West Brom broken down.
Finishing wasn't Newcastle’s strongest point last season. From the top 14 teams, only Burnley (36) found the net fewer times than Magpies (39). Nobody within Rafael Benitez’s squad crossed the double figure mark. In fact, just two – Ayoze Perez and Dwight Gayle, chipped in with five or more league goals.
Rondon was heralded to end that enigma. Indeed the Venezuelan flaunts both pedigree and experience at the highest level. Although the 28-year-old’s Premier League return isn’t exactly prolific; 24 times in 108 appearances, his ability to bully defenders off the ball has earned plaudits in recent years.
It’s a pity Rondon will remain at Hawthorns. With few days before the transfer window finally shuts down, here are four alternatives to the Venezuelan.
