Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are proving to be a real force at Manchester United

Thursday 15th December 2016
Manchester United seem to finally be finding their feet under Jose Mourinho. The self-proclaimed Special One has always admitted it will take time, but it comes as no coincidence that two of his huge signings are right at the forefront of everything good about the Red Devils.
The pair in question are obviously Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic; A duo known all over the footballing globe as being right up there amongst the best in their respective positions. Zlatan hit the ground running at the Theatre of Dreams, but it took a month or two for Pogba to find his feet. Now, it's just a scary sight for opposing teams.

Let's start with the veteran Swedish forward. Ibrahimovic came to Manchester United on a free transfer over the summer, after his previous deal at Paris Saint-Germain expired. The people in the French capital absolutely adored the influential striker, but he decided he needed a new challenge.

That's when Mourinho came calling, and the pair seems to absolutely idolise working alongside each other – and that's exactly why Ibrahimovic chose Manchester.

On the field, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is right up there as Manchester United's top goal scorer on the season. In 24 appearances, Zlatan has fourteen goals across all competitions including nine in the Premier League. Only behind Aguero, Costa and Sanchez in the charts.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about the forward is his hold-up play. When on song, defenders just cannot get near him. He uses his body absolutely superbly, and the way he distributes the football and brings his teammates into the play is seriously good.

If you can, just watch the last five or ten minutes of the Crystal Palace game on Wednesday night. Jose pushed Ibrahimovic back into a midfielder role, and keep an eye on the amount of times he won the ball back, held the play up and calmed everyone down was sensational – it shows just how much he wants to win and work for the team, and that's a mindset perfectly suited to Manchester United.

Onto the most expensive player in the world in the form of Paul Pogba. The Frenchman cost a whopping £89million to lure back to Old Trafford over the summer, and this was the signing that got the fans excited about Jose's arrival at the club. Not many managers would've been able to pull this one off – and certainly not David Moyes or Louis van Gaal.

Throughout his first few games, we were given glimpses of Pogba's talents and capabilities, but he never produced the goods for the complete ninety minutes. The ability was still there for everyone to see, and it was clear he just needed time to re-adapt to life in England.

Now he's fully fit and playing regularly, you can see the level of his performances getting better and better week-in-week-out.

Again, if you can watch Paul Pogba's game against Crystal Palace, you'll see just how much of a dominant midfielder he is. Those brutal, marauding runs terrorise opposing defenders, and he will chip in with a goal or two be it a worldie from outside of the box or a tap-in.

The scariest thing about Pogba is the fact that he is just twenty-three-years-old and still has huge amounts of developing to do. We're already talking about one of the finest midfielders in the world, just imagine how good he'll be in four or five years time. It's truly frightening.
