Five players Charlton Athletic should sign this Summer

Thursday 16th March 2017
Charlton boss Karl Robinson has stated his desire to bring in new players in the summer for the League One club following a thoroughly disappointing 2016/17 campaign, so It's Round and It's White have decided to pick out five new targets that the Addicks should consider.

John Lundstram

The former Everton youngster is into his second season with Oxford United where he is currently captain.

The England U20 international has a superb range of passing and is able to break up attacks in the centre of the pitch, a role that has been vital to Michael Appleton's side this campaign.

The centre midfielder would fill an area that severely needs improving for Charlton this season, with loanee Fredrik Ulvestad more than likely to return to Burnley while Andrew Crofts and Johnnie Jackson are another year older in their thirties.

The former Scunthorpe and Blackpool loanee has two promotion-winning medals to his name with Doncaster and Oxford and he helped lead the U's to the Check-a-trade trophy final this season.

Just to prove what Lundstram can bring to the Charlton side, take a look at this YouTube video:

Callum Camps

Another centre midfield option for Robinson and Charlton could be Rochdale's young talent, Callum Camps.

The 21 year-old has had another excellent season for Keith Hill's team with Dale aiming to reach the League One play-offs come the end of the campaign.

Operating mainly as a defensive midfielder in front of the back four, Camps has managed to contribute going forward as well, scoring nine goals so far for Rochdale and is someone who will no doubt receive attention during the summer.

Take a look at his strike against Oldham last season:

Jamie Allen

If Camps proves too difficult to try and sign, perhaps Charlton can target his Dale teammate, Jamie Allen.

Rochdale's skipper put in a man of the match performance against the Addicks in a 3-3 draw in February and has proved this season to be a valuable asset to Hill's team.

A nominee for League Two apprentice of the year in 2013, the 22 year-old has proved instrumental to Dale over the last few seasons, appearing in over 130 games for the Lancashire-based side.

He would definitely add some much-needed energy to the Charlton midfield as well as the tenacity that has been lacking this season for Robinson's men.

Allen is certainly capable of finding the net too as this video suggests:

Ben Reeves

A target for Charlton in January, Milton Keynes Dons attacking midfielder Ben Reeves is expected to be subject of more interest from Robinson this summer.

The former Southampton academy graduate is out of contract in the summer and has been without a doubt, one of the stand-out performers for the Dons since his arrival at Stadium MK in 2013.

The Northern Ireland international will give Charlton a different option going forward, with his ability to create as well as score from a wide position or just behind the striker.

Here are just some of his highlights whilst with the Dons:

James Vaughan

The Premier League's youngest goalscorer has managed to find his scoring boots again this campaign, having notched 20 times for Bury this season.

The former Everton and Norwich forward is a valuable addition to any side in League One and with Bury rumoured to be experiencing financial problems, a move for Vaughan could be a decent one.

Charlton will require a new striker in the summer and someone like the 28 year-old would fit the bill perfectly.
