Who were the Premier League's top six in the transfer window?

Wednesday 15th August 2018

A successful season is dependent on how well a team can galvanize itself with quality and bring that to the fore; even when the chips are down. Every football club is privy to this knowledge. Knowing is one thing, implementing it is another matter entirely.

Premier League clubs are the biggest spenders in the football world. That’s not a debate. The debate is – do they actually spend right? In a more pellucid term – do Premier League clubs actually conduct the best transfer business? If that’s the case, clubs in the echelon of the Premier League top six should be doing better in the transfer market to maintain their status.

Following the climax of another strident summer transfer window, England's elite clubs have, in their usual demeanour, spent in excess of £1billion on new signings. Fulham, Leicester City, West Ham and Everton forced their way into the top six spenders in the division; joining Liverpool and Chelsea.

Regardless of who drained their purse the most, we’d be analysing the performance of the bonafide top six clubs in the market. This ranking is in a descending order.
