So it begins...

Friday 22nd July 2011
The SPL season kicks off earlier than ever tomorrow but who will prevail in this highly competitive league consisting of Rangers and Celtic and 10 other teams making up the numbers with Hearts having an increasing tendency to finish 3rd.

1. Celtic

I think they will win it and learn their lesson from last year. Their squad is good enough and it will only gel more and more. They have chopped and changed every year and the team are unable to team up. I think a bit of stability is all thats needed.

2. Rangers

Go in to this campaign with blind optimism. There is no way that McCoist can replicate the success of Smith. I think Craig Whyte will not be the hero Rangers fans fully imagine.

3. Hearts

Getting stronger and stronger but will fall short in pursuit of the Old Firm.

4. Dundee United

Seen enough promise in their Europa League exit to have another crack at it next season.

5. Motherwell

I have been impressed with the way Stuart McCall has conducted his side towards the end of last season.

6. Inverness CT

The highlanders are back and flying high, Mightly impressive last time round and will be stronger.

7. Aberdeen

Giants that have fallen and its a slow, ardious recovery that will start this season.

8. Hibernian

Another frustrating season.

9. Dunfermline

Strong enough to survive at this level

10. St Johnstone

Good passers of the ball however lack penetration and persistently struggle to score

11. Kilmarnock

Won't emulate top 6 finish and the fact that there manager has not won a league game last season will be concerning,

12. St Mirren

Have struggled for years at the bottom when Gretna and Hamilton saved them but there is no woeful team this time around to save their blushes.
