Which team will Anthony Martial be playing for next season?

Friday 22nd June 2018

Anthony Martial has failed to live up to the hype that he himself created in 2015. The French forward became the most expensive teenager ever when he joined Manchester United and was set to be the next big thing. But, like Manchester United's recent signings, it just has not worked out to its fullest. He was a regular starter under Louis van Gaal but game time proved to be limited under Jose Mourinho. Martial has failed to cement his position in the starting XI in two seasons now.

Not to say that he has not been good, he was among the Red Devils' best players in the first half of the season, up till February. The arrival of Alexis Sanchez has landed the final nail in the coffin. Martial was in the form of his life post-Christmas but lost his place the day Sanchez played that piano. Since then, there has been a lot of speculation of Martial's poor attitude or that he doesn't work hard or that he isn't fighting for his place with Alexis. All of that is false.

Every time he plays, he does seem to give it his all. And that does involve tracking back too, something which Jose Mourinho loves. Martial has gotten a mere four sporadic starts at the left wing position and 10-minute cameos of the bench. In doing so, Martial lost his ticket to Russia.

Now, Martial's agent, Philippe Lamboley has said this :

"After thinking about all the possibilities and scenarios, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United,"

Some reports say that Manchester United have no intention of selling the former Monaco player as he is an important member of the first team. The same reports also state that the Red Devils are triggering the one-year extension in Martial's contract that would make the player stay at Old Trafford till 2020.

And now, it is time to make a decision. This summer and the following season could make or break Tony Martial's career. The 22-year old, currently, is the third choice left winger, third choice striker and didn't look at all comfortable paying on the right flank. His opportunities have massively been restricted since February. And now, as heartbreaking as this is for me to type, Anthony Martial should leave Manchester United to progress in his career. The same Manchester United where his career never took off. Maybe, all he needs is a change to kick-start his career again.

Here are the potential suitors for Anthony Martial who could cost anywhere from £75-100 million:
