The League Two playoffs are set for some exciting games

Wednesday 17th May 2017
Plymouth and Doncaster have managed to gain promotion into League one. While Leyton Orient has been relegated. Hartlepool also suffered relegation but their fate was sealed on the final day. But right now all eyes are on the League Two playoffs.

The first leg took place last Sunday and 7th placed Blackpool were up against 4th placed Luton. Bloomfield Road was where it kicked off and Blackpool was the first to make an impact in front of their home crowd. Mark Cullen managed to get the Tangerines ahead.
On 26 minutes Daniel Potts equalised for Luton Town before Isaac Vassell made it 2-1 to The Hatters just two minutes later. Not long after the second half started Blackpool managed to peg back with another goal from Mark Cullen. In the 67th minute Blackpool was awarded a penalty and who was to take it. No other than Mark Cullen. The English striker finished for his hat-trick in what could only be described as a man of the match performance. The game then ended 3-2 to Blackpool.

The other playoff game was between 6th placed Carlisle vs 5th placed Exeter. This fixture took place at Carlisle's Brunton Park. Exeter was first to break through with a goal from Joel Grant. Just 17 minutes later it was 1-1. Jordan Moore-Taylor had managed to put the ball in the back of his own net. Just before half time, Joel Grant got himself involved again by setting up Ryan Harley to make it 2-1 to Exeter.

On 56 minutes Grant got himself involved yet again by setting up another goal. This time the finisher was David Wheeler. Exeter, now 3-1 up started to look comfortable. This was not the case as Carlisle had brought on a couple of subs to freshen things up. This had changed the game. Carlisle managed to score on 71 and 73 minutes thanks to two super subs. John O'Sullivan and Shaun Miller were the culprits. This tied the game at 3-3 and that was the final score.
From a neutral point of view, these games have both been entertaining and they have definitely not been shy of goals. The upcoming reversed fixtures are sure to be the same as it is so tight by the aggregate. Just one goal could be all the difference and many will be watching on to see who has what it takes to advance to the final.

The whole season depends on these results and now is the time to put in 110% for every player in these final games. We will see who really wants it and Wembley stadium is calling for a promotion place for one of these teams.

So who will we see celebrating at Wembley this season, Blackpool, Luton, Carlisle or Exeter City?

The second round of League Two playoffs kick-off at 7.45pm on the 18th May. Everton v Carlisle can be found on the Sky Sports Red Button whilst Luton v Blackpool is on Sky Sports 2.

For my sins, I'm a season ticket holder at Stoke City, I have been proud to watch them for over 20 years. I follow most of the UK leagues and the major European ones too, and I've been told that I talk way too much about football.
