The three best Serie A recruits Maurizio Sarri can lure to Chelsea

Tuesday 31st July 2018

It’s time to exorcise Antonio Conte’s ghost at Chelsea. Who better to do it than someone who speaks the same language as the incensed ex Juventus captain? Clearly, Maurizio Sarri has his work cut out for him in London. One way to begin is by beefing up his arsenal. Since there’s no place like home, that’s where he’ll look first. There’s a hat-trick of viable recruitments the Italian can help Chelsea procure.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. Sarri doesn’t have the final say on transfers at Chelsea. His best play is to quickly become friends with high-ranking members of the board. Marina Granovskaia should top any checklist he makes. Conte’s failure to do that was the biggest undoing of his two-year tenure.

It’s a good argument that Sarri already has a competitive squad from which he can pick a strong lineup. That notwithstanding, the season ahead is certain to be a breathtaking marathon – even the best squad can be torn apart by injuries. Having said that, Sarri’s squad still needs reinforcements.

The Serie A would be a good place to get those recruits. The reason being, most Italian clubs can hardly say no to cash. In terms of scouting, Sarri must’ve had a first-hand view of any player coming in from the peninsula. Briefly, we’ll take a look at three players Sarri could sweet-talk into moving to the UK.
