With the new Premier League season round the corner, pundits, professionals, and fans start wondering who will be crowned the new champions come may.

The 2012 season saw the closest Premiership title in its history, as it went down to the final minutes to decide the winner, with Sergio Aguero and Manchester City forcing their way into the record books.

Not only did this showcase why the Premiership is the greatest league in the world but it also threw out the biggest question of all. Was there a transference of power between the two Manchester Clubs?

In years previous Manchester United have dominated, being referred to by City as the Noisy Neighbours.

How the pendulum swings though as City have slowly grown a voice of their own, shouting louder and louder every day. Since the boom of money into City, their quality of players and performances have improved and they full deserved the title of Premier League champions.

Their pre season has been different this year as they are still yet to secure a new signing and have had a mixture of results in pre season friendlies.

United since the end of the season made the shrewd signings of Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell, to bolster the first team ranks. Their pre season has also run a lot more smoothly as they have picked up wins in Asia and South Africa.

One main factor that gives United the edge in this battle is Alex Ferguson. The Scot has seen and done it all, all United fans know he will be most determined to reclaim that title for his side that have dominated it since its beginnings in the 90s.

With Manchester United and Manchester City pushing for glory once again there will be three teams hot on their tails, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur.

The three London clubs had mixed fortunes over the year with Tottenham showing some of the most consistent form of their Premier League history as they finished fourth, which did not stop Harry Redknapp losing his job at the end of the season.

Now with Andre Villas-Boas at the spurs helm the big question remains of whether he can cut it as a Premier League manager after his controversial sacking at Chelsea.

The young manager was never really given a chance at Chelsea and was sacked soon after he took over, many people believe it was down to player power but the truth of the matter will never be clear.

So the question remains whether the Portuguese man can control the changing room and truly turn Tottenham into a force to be reckoned with.

With Villa Boas moving on Roberto Di Matteo stepped into the Chelsea hot seat after achieving a cup double, the manager has been giving plenty of money to spend bringing in big name players like Eden Hazard, Marko Marin, and Oscar.

If he can get the players to gel and play like they all know they can they could be a real force this year, worryingly so for the two Manchester Clubs.

Arsenal had a topsy turvy season last year as they started terribly but had a great finish, snatching the last Champions league spot from the clutches of Tottenham.

Wenger has finally heard the calls to spend big bringing in Lucas Podolski, Giroud as well as the suspected transfers of Ganso and Carzola they truly could be a strong force this season.

Robin Van Persie presents a problem though as the player is refusing to sign a new contract, his future is very much up in the air which could cause problems through the season for Arsenal.

Finally there are the nearly clubs, the teams that could make it if their form was consistent throughout the season. The one of main notoriety is Newcastle United, they finished fifth last season playing some fabulous football.

They have kept hold of their important players like Yohan Cabaye, Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse which could prove the difference come the end of May.

If the Premier League is anything like the last two years, all players, fans, and pundits know it will be a hell of a season.
