Why Jose is wrong not to select Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Tuesday 1st November 2016
United fans have been scratching our heads in regards to what is going wrong in the early parts of their season. Arguably there has been several factors, is one of them Henrikh Mkhitaryan's lack of selection?

Some United fans (myself included)  feel that the decision to play Wayne Rooney in the team has cost United, but now he has been dropped from the squad, results haven't improved greatly.

Another factor in my humble opinion is the decision to play Zlatan Ibrahimovic even though he's quite clearly looking tired. The Big Swede who has had a marvellous career across Europe, playing for Italian giants Juventus, AC and Inter Milan, not to forget to mention Barcelona, even though the man himself might want to forget about his time at the Nou Camp.

As disappointing as Zlatan has been, I don't even think this has been the main reason of why Man United have struggled. My own personal opinion is the reason for United's struggles, well one of them at least is the exclusion of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Former Dortmund midfielder Mkhitaryan who had a stellar season with German giants Borussia Dortmund last year hasn't been given the chance to succeed in the Premier League. He's had just four outings so far this season in the Premier League, and three of those were from the bench.

Injuries haven't helped the Armenian, but after being described injury free by Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho, the decision to drop "Makh" is strange to say the very least.

The former Shakhtar player arguably was one of the most sought-after players in Europe, but ever since joining the Old Trafford outfit, arguably he's been given the Juan Mata treatment. At Chelsea despite being player of the season, Jose still opted to sell the Spaniard.

I am seeing the same kind of thing unfolding here with the Armenian at United. The former Dortmund man might have been disappointing in the Manchester derby, but I don't think there was any player who covered themselves in glory on that day.

Dare I say it, but to most fans, it seems obvious that not playing Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a bad decision. Man United have been lack creativity, someone to unlock the door - the man who has the ability to do that is on the bench.

Over the past several weeks Zlatan Ibrahimovic has looked isolated up front, the big Swede needs some supply, in my humble opinion Mkhitaryan is the man to do that. His stats speak for themselves.

For the very expecting United fans, after a huge outlay on players, we expect some good performances, the very least be competitive in games. This hasn't happened.

United have been close to poor this year. Henrikh Mkhitaryan needs to play, full stop. Manchester United's current tactics aren't working, they need a player who can be creative, who can weigh in and score some goals.

Mkhitaryan ticks all the right boxes. As a Man United fan this is a sincere plea to Jose Mourinho, please, please don't be stubborn. Jose, you need to play Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Martial is more effective up front so that will allow Mkhitaryan to go out wide, don't you remember last season Jose?
